I made walnut brownies!
I had some spare walnuts lying around the gaff, so I thought I'd make use of them.
I cycled down to the local SuperValu and bought these ingredients:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 11/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- Mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
- Heat butter in a pan over low flame.
- Remove the pan from flame when the butter has fully melted. Add sugar, eggs and blend well.
- Add vanilla extract. Add to the flour mixture and mix well.
- Add walnuts and stir to mix.
- Spread this onto a greased baking pan lined with foil.
- Place the pan in a preheated oven at 350F/175C for about 25 to 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
- Remove and cool completely. Before it cools complete, garnish with some finely chopped walnuts.
- Remove the foil and cut into small/medium squares or rectangles.
- *OPTIONAL* Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Once I had these bad boys finished, I devoured them, and the walnut was a great addition to these wonderful brownies!
They are very healthy and a great snack for athletes and sporty individuals!
